Reduce Waste to Landfills
The objective of this directive is to prevent or reduce as far as possible negative effects on the environment from the landfilling of waste, by introducing stringent limits for waste sent to landfills.
The directive is intended to prevent or reduce the adverse effects of our waste materials on the environment.
How?
• Improvement in production yields.
• Alternate uses of in-process and customer returned materials.
• Explore other technologies for recycling waste materials.
• Find ways to recycle all raw material packaging.
Reduce Energy Consumption
At PFB we are committed to reducing energy consumption in order to conserve resources, reduce emissions from burning of fossil fuels and reduce costs. In order to reduce our energy consumption we will become more efficient energy users. Reduction in energy consumption will be achieved through more efficient use of electricity and gas to heat and light our facilities and power our production processes.
How?
• Conduct energy audits and determine opportunities for improvement.
• Improve efficiency of equipment and buildings.
Reduce Emissions to the Atmosphere
Getting more electricity, transport, and industrial output for less coal, oil, or gasoline is a no-lose situation: more profit, less pollution, less global warming. . . although initial outlays for better equipment and technology can be expensive.
Production of energy saving insulating products results in some emissions of GHG to the atmosphere from burning of fossil fuels and release of VOC foam expanding agents. To reduce our emissions to the atmosphere PFB will focus on reducing our energy consumption and reducing the emissions of VOC’s through improved raw material and equipment technologies.
How?
• Research is currently underway by our technical center to develop a raw
material that uses less VOC.
